Description
Mittenwald - Lake Garda
Facts
The tour leads us through the middle of the Dolomites, thereby we completely bypass the impressive Sella Stock as well as the Marmolada massif.
Requirements
A fairly good basic condition is a prerequisite for this Transalp. The passes demand quite a bit of endurance.
Highlights
We drive over the Grödnerjoch into the heart of the Dolomites and east of the fantastic Sella massif over the Passo di Campolongo and Passo Pordoi. Other highlights are Passo Fedaia at the foot of the Marmolada glacier and Passo San Pellegrino. We finally reach Lake Garda via the imposing Monte Bondone and the stony Sarca Valley.
Route
From Mittenwald we ride through the Leutasch valley, over the Buchener Sattel and on a wonderful descent down into the Inn valley. We continue on the old federal road over the Brenner Pass to Brixen. We drive in the direction of the Dolomites. First over the Grödnerjoch, then over the Passo Campolongo and the Passo Pordoi to Canazei. From there we cycle around the Marmolada massif via the Passo di Fedaia and the Passo San Pellegrino. We continue across the idyllic high plateau of Piné to Trento, from where we climb Monte Bondone and finally reach Lake Garda via the Sarca Valley.
