Facts
This tour leads us across beautiful forest tracks and country lanes from Tegernsee into the Puster Valley. With about 4900 m of ascent and 200 kilometers this is a moderate Transalp.
Requirements
Apart from a few sections where you have to push or carry your bike the whole tour is easily passable. For the downhill passages a good driving technique and bike control are essential. A very good level of fitness is necessary for this tour.
Highlights
Landscapes: Wonderful single-trails upwards to the Pfitscher Joch with a view to the area of the Grenzkamm. The Pfunderer Joch, one of the most beautiful passes of the Alps which you can experience with your mountainbike. Wonderful mountain huts in the South Tyrolean mountain world.
Route
This tour leads from Tegernsee into the Inn Valley. Further we ride through the Zillertal Valley and at the Pfitscher Joch over the main ridge of the Alps to the Pfitscher Valley. Over the Pfunderer Joch we get into the Weitental and finally into the Puster Valley.

Thursday
Stage 1 - Kreuth - Stumm: ca. 90 km; ca. 1800 m ascent
We pass through the Tegernsee mountains and cycle over Wildbad Kreuth towards Erzherzog-Johann Klause. Along the Brandenberger Ache we get to Brixlegg. After a short stretch along the river Inn we do a little detour into the Alpbachtal and cycle past the Reither Kogel over a mountain path into the Ziller Valley. The last kilometers we cycle along the riverbank of the Ziller to Stumm.
Friday
Stage 2 - Stumm - Pfitscher Tal: ca. 60 km; ca. 1800 m ascent
During the first stage we smoothly roll along the Zillertal cycle route. After about 16 km we reach Mayrhofen. Here the ascent up to the Pfitscherjoch on 2246 m (more than 1600 m at a stretch) starts. From Ginzling we cycle on the old street towards the restaurant Breitlahner. Behind the restaurant we turn right to the marked mountainbike route which leads us to the Schlegeis reservoir. Behind the reservoir, the ascent up to the Pfitscher Joch awaits us. A hiking trail winds its way from the Schlegeis reservoir up to the Pfitscher Joch Hut. Arrived at the hut, we also finally arrived in Italy and celebrate our border crossing with a creamy cappuccino. We then ride on a gravel descent that is fun to the Pfitscher Valley, the „sunny side“ of the Alps.
Saturday
Stage 3 - Pfitscher Tal - Mühlbach: ca. 50 km; ca. 1300 m ascent
Today we add up one more highlight: an uphill of the highest level, which leads us about 1200 m of altitude at a stretch to the highest point of our tour: the Pfunderer Joch. But don’t be afraid: We have the whole day and can enjoy this ascent to the full. The summit happiness at 2570 m and the endless downhill into the Weitental reward us for all our efforts. We stay the night in Mühlbach and celebrate our Transalp.
