Description

Tegernsee - Lake Garda

On six stages with a total of about 760 km and about 17150 hm from Lake Tegernsee to Lake Garda: This dreamlike pass ride is aimed at very well trained road cyclists.
This road bike transalp is a very demanding road bike tour. We assume a very good condition and mountain experience. Five of the six daily stages are at "tour" transalp level, so not suitable for little trained road cyclists.
Start at the Tegernsee, the Timmelsjoch, Grödner Joch, Passo Giau, the Pale di San Martino, lonely lakes in Trentino and finally the dreamlike Lake Garda.
We roll in rather comfortably towards the south and drive on small side roads into the Inn valley. A first endurance test is in store for us at Kühtai. Always along the Ötz we come to the Timmelsjoch and then follow the tracks of the ötztaler bike marathon over the Jaufenpass. From Sterzing we set course for the Dolomites and cycle over the Grödner Joch and the Passo Valparola to Cortina. On small passes we cycle westwards past mighty mountain ranges. The highlight is certainly the Pale di San Martino. The rest of the way to Trento is no less spectacular. Finally, we drive one of the most beautiful routes from our Trentino guide to Lake Garda.

Details & stages
6 p.m.: Meeting at Tegernsee for dinner, getting to know each other and bike check. Discussion of the overall tour on the basis of maps.
We start from the Tegernsee gently rising to warm up in the direction of Achenpass. We soon reach our first pass. Over the Sylvensteinspeicher we follow the Isar valley to Mittenwald, then continue on side roads to Seefeld and then rapidly down into the Inn valley. This we cross quickly and then comes our first endurance test, the climb to Kühtai. A short rest at the top, then it's back downhill into the Ötztal. Here we spend the night.
The first royal stage on this tour. The Timmelsjoch and then the Jaufenpass. On the tracks of the Ötztal Marathon. To regenerate from these highlights, we pedal from Sterzing to Mühlbach.
In terms of panoramic views, this is certainly one of the most beautiful tours we have in our program. At the beginning we drive rapidly downhill through Brixen and follow the Eisack. Over very small roads we crank up to Ortisei, then continue over the Gardena Pass and to the Valparola and Falzarego Pass. High alpine dream panoramas along the route.
The Passo Giau is one of our favorite passes on the road bike, little traffic and beautiful views on the ascent around the mountain groups around Cortina. Rapidly it then goes downhill towards Alleghe. But we want to see a little more of Pelmo and Civetta and go south over Passo Staulanza.
It starts quite steeply today with the climb to Passo Valles. On the descent we have beautiful views into the Val Veneggia and the first rock formations of the Pala. Over the Passo Rolle we then come to the foot of the Pala rocks. A rapid descent through a fantastic coniferous forest brings us to San Martino. In this very idyllic place we simply have to take a rest. We then continue south and over a small pass into the Valsugana and on to Trento.
At the end we have come up with a nice stage. First we follow the Adige river southwards, then we follow the traces of the Kaiserjägerweg to Rovereto. Again and again we pass monuments from the First World War. Via Nago we arrive at Lake Garda from the east.
After breakfast transfer back to Tegernsee.
